World Diabetes Day: Diabetes is a serious disease for which there is no definite cure and it can be controlled only with the help of a good lifestyle and healthy diet. Now in such a situation, this question often comes before us that to control blood sugar, which things should a diabetic patient consume and which should he keep distance from. In such a situation, today on World Diabetes Day, we are going to tell you about some things which diabetic patients should not consume or we can say that they should be consumed in less quantity.

Be it a diabetic patient or a normal person, proteins, minerals, vitamins and all other nutrients are necessary for the better functioning of his body. But when it comes to carbs, diabetic patients are advised to stay away from them. There are three main types of carbohydrates in food, first is starch, second is sugar and third is fiber. Starch and sugar are the biggest problems for diabetic patients, because the body breaks them into glucose. When it comes to refined carbs or refined starch, they are broken down through processing before reaching the plates. Because of this the body absorbs them quickly and converts them into glucose. Due to this the blood sugar level increases. In such a situation, there are some white things which we consume daily, which are full of carbs like starch and sugar, the consumption of which can increase the blood sugar. So let us know about those things today.


Pasta is made with sauce, cream, cheese and lots of butter. This gives you 1,000 calories, 75 grams of fat and about 100 grams of carbohydrates. It is made of flour which can increase blood sugar. There is also a risk of increasing obesity due to this.


Per 100 grams of potato, 97 kcal, 22.6 grams of carbohydrates, 0.1 grams of fat, 1.6 grams of protein and 0.4 grams of fiber are available. 98% of the total calories in potatoes come in the form of carbohydrates. It has a high glycemic index and is not a suitable food for diabetics.

Fine flour

The quantity of vitamins, minerals and fiber in flour is less and the starch content is 73.9%. Consuming anything made from flour can be harmful for diabetic patients. Excessive consumption of flour is associated with constipation. The glycemic index of flour is very high. It is not good for patients suffering from diabetes and obesity.


Sweet foods made from sugar contain mostly sugar and bad carbohydrates. These have little or no nutritional value and can increase blood sugar rapidly. Sugar also increases the risk of weight gain, heart disease and stroke.


A study has revealed that people who consume excess white rice remain at risk of type 2 diabetes. White rice has a high glycemic index, which means it can increase blood sugar.

White bread made from white flour is full of refined starch. These things work like sugar and get digested very quickly. Due to this the blood sugar level suddenly increases. Also it lacks fiber. There is a deficiency of fiber.
