World Cup 2023: The disappointing journey of Pakistan (Pakistan cricket team) in the ongoing Cricket World Cup (ICC Cricket World cup 2023, India) has ended. The team finished 5th in the points table with four wins from its nine league matches and eight points. Pakistan team could not even reach the semi-finals due to poor performance of the players. Their bowlers’ bowling was very poor throughout the tournament. In such a situation, former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel, who was the bowling coach of the team, has resigned from his post. He was associated with the team for six months in the month of June this year.
Let us tell you that due to poor performance in the World Cup, former veteran player Inzamam-ul-Haq had also resigned from the post of chief selector of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). PCB had constituted Cricket Technical Committee (CTC) under the chairmanship of Misbah-ul-Haq. This committee had recommended the appointment of Inzamam to Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf. Former captain Mohammad Hafeez was also included in the CTC. He has also resigned from his post.
PCB has not named Morkel’s replacement. PCB said that a decision on this will be taken at the appropriate time. After this, Pakistan has to go on Pakistan tour of Australia in December, in which they will play a three-Test series. Pakistan’s world class bowling and batting was exposed in this World Cup. Former World Cup winner and great fast bowler Wasim Akram has blamed the poor performance of the fast bowlers for the poor performance of the team.
