Delhi: Two people who entered Keshavpuram police station area to extract gold from the sewer line on Sunday afternoon died. Police took out the bodies with the help of fire brigade personnel. The bodies have been kept in the mortuary of Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Jahangirpuri for post-mortem.
The deceased have been identified as 47-year-old Mohammad Saeed and 27-year-old Ravi. It is being told that both of them were working to extract metal from the sewer for the last five years. Used to earn his living by selling it. Police are suspecting that they may have died due to inhaling poisonous gas. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post mortem report comes.
Police officials said that at around 12:44 pm on Sunday afternoon, a security guard of a factory informed that two people had entered the sewer manhole in Lawrence Road industrial area, who had not come out even after a long time. The police who reached the spot did not find any movement in the sewer line. This information was given to the fire department. After a lot of effort, the fire brigade personnel pulled both of them out of the sewer. He had died.
