Tulsi Marriage 2023: This year Tulsi Vivah is on 23rd November. There is a tradition of Tulsi marriage on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi. Ekadashi of Kartik month has great importance in Hindu religion. Tulsi marriage is performed on this Ekadashi day. It is believed that marrying a Tulasi gives the same results as donating a girl.
According to the legend, once Mother Tulsi got angry and cursed Lord Vishnu that he would become a black stone. To get rid of this curse, God incarnated in the form of Shaligram stone. Shaligram is considered to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu and Tulsi is considered to be the incarnation of Mother Lakshmi. Tulsi marriage is performed on the day of Ekadashi. It is believed that worshiping Mother Tulsi brings happiness and peace in the house.
Tulsi marriage puja method
On the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, wake up in Brahma Muhurta, take bath etc. and take a pledge to fast. After this worship Lord Vishnu. Install a Tulsi plant on one post and Shaligram on the other post. After this, keep an urn filled with water next to it and place five mango leaves on it. Apply ocher in the basil pot and light a ghee lamp. Then sprinkle Ganga water on Tulsi and Shaligram and apply tilak of Roli and sandalwood. Make a pavilion with sugarcane in the Tulsi pot itself. Now add basil to the red chunri head. Wrap the pots in saree and decorate them like a bride. After this, Shaligram along with the post is taken in the hand and Tulsi is circumambulated seven times. After this perform Aarti. After completion of Tulsi Vivah, Prasad is distributed to all the people.
