Hoshiarpur. Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Wednesday got illegal encroachment removed from 203 acres of Panchayat land in village Bhambotad of Talwara block in Hoshiarpur district. Talking to journalists at the community center of the village, Bhullar said that 252 acres of Panchayat land is under occupation in four villages under Bhambotad.
Illegal occupation of 203 acres of land has been voluntarily given up by the village panchayats and farmers, which is a commendable act. He said that people have built their houses on the remaining land. By making a policy in this regard, the encroachment will be freed soon and people will not be allowed to face any problem. He said that on the land which has been freed from encroachment, Khair and Teak trees are planted and have become suitable for harvesting. He said that after the approval of the department, after getting them harvested, the money will be deposited in the government treasury. In response to a question, he said that illegal encroachments have been freed from 13 thousand acres of Panchayati land at different places in the state. He said that the department will speed up the advocacy related to settlement of court cases and other lands in the state will also be freed from encroachment soon.
