New Delhi. Supreme Court warns Delhi government for not providing funds for RRTS project. Raising questions over non-compliance of the court’s order, the Supreme Court directed that the Delhi government’s funds for advertising should be transferred to the project. However, keeping this order in abeyance for a period of one week, it has been said that if the funds are not transferred then the order will come into effect.
Earlier in July also, the Supreme Court had expressed displeasure with the Kejriwal government and had asked to release money for the project. According to the news agency, the Supreme Court said that why did the Delhi government not follow the order of this court? We will put a stay on your (Delhi government) advertising budget. We will attach it and place it here.
The bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia also directed that the advertisement fund of the Delhi government be transferred to the project. However, this order has been postponed for a period of one week. The highest court said that if the Delhi government does not transfer the funds within a week, this order will come into force.
According to the law portal, the court said that if such national projects are affected and money is being spent on advertising, then we will have to say that the money should be sent for infrastructure. Senior advocate Meenakshi Arora, appearing for the Delhi government, asked for one week’s time. Justice Kaul said that the case will be listed after a week and if the funds are not given then the order will become effective.
