After both losing their opening games, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) will desperate to get some points on the board when they meet on Thursday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Despite winning this fixture here last year, RCB have a poor record at home versus Mumbai, winning just two of nine contests.

An RCB side packed with quality batsmen such as Virat Kohli (second-highest run scorer in IPL history with 4,954) and AB de Villiers (ranked #3 in the most sixes chart with 186) were skittled out for just 70 on a poorly prepared wicket in their opener against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). That was their lowest-ever score in the IPL.

They then managed to take just three CSK wickets as the visitors took the spoils by seven wickets. Kohli stated after the match that they were “glad to have that game at the beginning of the season rather than at the end”. They may well look to field the same side in this match, assuming the wicket will be more conducive to T20 cricket!

Three times winners of the IPL, MI were unable to chase down the 213/7 set by the Delhi Capitals in their opener, despite Mitch McClenaghan taking 3/40. Key bowler Jasprit Bumrah sustained a shoulder injury during his spell (0/40) and is a doubt for this match.
