New Delhi, An elderly man shot himself in Hari Nagar. He has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in critical condition. No suicide note has been found from him nor is he in a position to give a statement.
In the complaint given to the police, the old man’s wife told that only husband and wife live on the second floor of the building. He has a son and a daughter. Both live in America. His son has been living in America for 17 years and his daughter went to America in February.
Her husband used to drive a taxi. Some time ago her husband had sold the taxi due to financial constraints. Her husband had a heart attack in February. Since then he was continuously taking medicines. Her husband was under stress due to household expenses and medicine for his illness.
On November 13, her husband became very ill, so he was admitted to Kalra Hospital. She brought him from Kalra Hospital at 11.30 am on Wednesday. At around 2.30 in the afternoon, her husband asked for a blanket from his wife, saying that it was cold.
As Ashnavindra was bringing blankets from another room, she heard the sound of gunshot. She went to her husband’s room and saw that blood was coming out of his head. After this, she stood on the stairs and shouted and asked people for help.
The police is investigating the case. The injured elderly man has been identified as Jagjit Singh (60). Jagjit’s wife told the police that their son had gone to America about 17 years ago. In February this year, his daughter also went to America.
