Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana
Under this small savings scheme of the Central Government, you can open an account anytime till the child turns 10 years old. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account can be started with just Rs 250. You can deposit up to Rs 1.5 lakh in a financial year.
This account will continue till the daughter turns 21 years old. When he turns 18, you can withdraw 50 percent of the money for higher education. The government also gives 8 percent annual interest on this scheme. Besides, you can also avail income tax exemption.
Girls Samriddhi Yojana
This scheme started by the Central Government has now been handed over to the State Governments. Balika Samriddhi Yojana was launched for families living below the poverty line. In this, Rs 500 is given on the birth of a daughter. Along with this, when the daughter starts going to school, she is also given an annual scholarship. This amount starts from Rs 300 and reaches Rs 1000 annually.
Udaan CBSE Scholarship Program
The UDAN project was started by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in collaboration with the CBSE Board. Under this, the enrollment of girls in engineering colleges is to be increased. Under this, every student studying in class 11th can take free online or offline coaching. Daughters from families with annual income less than Rs 6 lakh will get 3 percent seat quota. This form can be filled from the CBSE website.
National Scheme of Incentives
This scheme was launched by the Central Government to promote secondary education among girls belonging to AC/ST category and reduce drop out. Under this, an FD of Rs 3000 is given to girls who pass 8th class and take admission in 9th class. After turning 18 and passing 10th, she can withdraw it with interest.
State government schemes
Like the Centre, state governments also run many schemes for daughters. These include Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and West Bengal. These include schemes available from the birth of daughters till higher education. Delhi’s Ladli Yojana, Bihar’s Chief Minister Kanya Suraksha Yojana and West Bengal’s Kanyashree are such schemes.
