New Delhi. Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi on Saturday alleged a scam of Rs 3,735 crore in the Delhi Jal Board, citing alleged accounting irregularities since 2017. The Delhi government or the Jal Board did not immediately respond to Lekhi’s allegations.
Lekhi, during a joint press conference with Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, alleged that issuance of tender for 12,000 work orders worth Rs 600 crore was avoided by keeping the value of each order below Rs 5 lakh. Sachdeva said that the Chief Minister should hand over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He said that if he does not do so, BJP will urge the LG to do so.
Lekhi alleged that Kejriwal used to allege that water tanker mafia existed during the government led by former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, but they still exist.
