PM Modi inaugurated the world’s largest grain storage scheme, warehouses will be built across the country – Bollywood Keeda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world’s largest grain storage scheme in a program organized at Bharat Mandapam located at Pragati Maidan in the capital. He inaugurated 11 PACS warehouses in 11 states for distribution of food grains and laid the foundation stone for construction of 500 PACS warehouses. Under this scheme, thousands of warehouses and godowns will be built across the country.

Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone of additional 500 packs for warehouses across the country. The objective of these initiatives is to seamlessly connect PACS warehouses with the food grain supply chain with the help of NABARD and National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the cooperative sector is helpful in accelerating the development of rural areas. Today we are moving forward in the direction of realizing the resolve that the country has taken for prosperity through cooperation. Modi urged the cooperative sector to help reduce import dependence for agricultural products, including edible oils and fertilizers.

Priority for women in cooperative policies

Prime Minister Modi said that with the construction of huge storage facilities, farmers will be able to keep their produce in warehouses, take institutional loans in return and get good prices. He also stressed the importance of bringing transparency in the election system of cooperative societies and said that this will encourage greater participation of people in the cooperative movement. He said that efforts are being made to strengthen cooperative societies in the country through a separate ministry. Today in the country too, farmers are involved in cooperatives in dairy and agriculture, among them crores of women are women. Seeing this potential of women, the government has also given them priority in policies related to cooperation.
