Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Delhi. Both the leaders laid emphasis on Quad in bilateral talks. Also in the meeting, Joe Biden welcomed India’s candidature for UNSC. A joint statement has also been issued regarding the bilateral talks between the two leaders, in which the US President welcomed the issuance of a letter of request to the Indian Defense Ministry to purchase 31 MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft from American defense giant General Atomics.
Emphasis laid on the importance of Quad group
A joint statement further said that Prime Minister Modi looks forward to welcoming the US President to the next Quad Leaders Summit to be hosted by India in 2024. During the discussion, PM Modi and US President Joe Biden on Friday stressed the importance of the Quad grouping in supporting a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
In a joint statement, PM Modi said that the friendship between the two countries will continue to play a great role in advancing global well-being. Prime Minister Modi and President Biden also promised to maintain high-level engagement between their governments, industries, and academic institutions and realize their ambitious vision for an enduring India-US partnership.
