Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary has refused to be a part of the eight-member committee constituted by the Central Government regarding One Country-One Election. Chaudhary has also informed Home Minister Amit Shah by writing a letter about this. In fact, the Central Government on Saturday constituted an eight-member committee to examine the possibility of holding simultaneous elections in the country.
Know, what Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary said in the letter written to the Home Minister
In a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary said that he has come to know that he has been included in the high-level committee for holding simultaneous Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in the country. I have no hesitation to serve on this committee but I fear it is a hoax. He said that a few months before the general elections, an unviable idea was being imposed on the country. This sudden decision by the government raises concerns about the ulterior motives of the government. Besides this, Chowdhary expressed grief over the exclusion of Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge from the committee. He called it an insult to the democracy system. Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition said that due to all these circumstances I have no other option but to decline your invitation.
Who are included in the eight-member committee
According to the Law Ministry, this committee will be headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind. The committee includes Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, former Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Finance Commission Chairman NK Singh, former Lok Sabha Secretary General Subhash C Kashyap, senior advocate Harish Salve and former Chief Vigilance Commissioner Sanjay Kothari.
