Now the benefit of 75 percent reservation will be available in Bihar. Bihar government has increased the reservation limit by 15 percent. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has published a gazette regarding this. That means, from now on, Scheduled Caste/Tribe, EBC and OBC will get the benefit of 75 percent reservation in educational institutions and jobs. It has been implemented from Tuesday (21 November).
Let us tell you that the Bihar government had introduced the Reservation Amendment Bill 2023 during the winter session of the Assembly. It was passed by both the houses on 9 November. There was a provision to increase the scope of reservation to 75 percent. The state’s main opposition party BJP also supported this bill. Governor Rajendra Arlekar also gave his approval to the Reservation Bill-2023.
Now who will get how much reservation?
After the implementation of the bill, SC will get 20 percent and ST will get 2 percent in Bihar. Extremely backward classes will get the benefit of 25 percent reservation and backward classes will get 18 percent reservation. Along with this, the provision of 10 percent reservation for the economically weaker sections of the general category will remain applicable. Previous Dalits and Mahadalits will get the benefit of this reservation in educational institutions and government jobs.
