The accused committed the crime with the help of a voice changing device. Police have recovered a car, mobile, three SIM cards and a voice changing device from the accused. According to South District Police Deputy Commissioner Chandan Choudhary, on Wednesday, Sangam Vihar’s jeweler Anurag Sharma lodged a complaint with the police saying that someone was continuously calling from an unknown number, claiming to be a member of the Neeraj Bawaniya gang, and demanding Rs 2 crore and two kilos of gold as extortion money. Between December 14 and 27, the accused continuously called different members of the family and demanded extortion, failing which he threatened to face dire consequences before the New Year. After registering the case, the police investigated through technical surveillance. During investigation, the caller’s location was found to be Jat Dharamshala, H-Block, Sangam Vihar. After investigation, the police identified the accused Vipin and caught him. During interrogation, the accused told that he knows Anurag and the entire family very well. Vipin told that he had incurred a huge debt.
