According to media reports, Japanese electronic parts manufacturer TDK Corp will manufacture lithium ion (Li-ion) battery cells for Apple iPhone in India. Apple is projecting India as its next big growth driver. Because he wants to take some production away from China. It started assembling iPhones in the country in 2017 through Wistron and later Foxconn and has a total of 14 suppliers in India.
Apple plans to reduce its manufacturing in China. India can become the next big source of growth for the company. State Minister for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said in a post on social media platform X that TDK will set up a manufacturing unit in Haryana. This will provide thousands of jobs. Reuters report states that the cells made in this unit will be supplied to Sunwoda Electronics, which assembles Apple’s lithium-ion batteries. A request for comment sent by Reuters to Apple and TDK Corp in this regard has not received a response.
