IRF requests to make seat belts mandatory in passenger buses and heavy vehicles, know details here – Bollywood Keeda

The International Road Federation (IRF) has urged the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) to make the use of seat belts mandatory in all heavy duty vehicles including passenger buses and school buses to reduce casualties and injuries in road accidents. IRF honorary president KK Kapila, in a letter to MORTH, said there is an urgent need to provide seat belts in buses, which should be made mandatory. He said that there have been heart-wrenching passenger bus accidents in which innocent people lost their lives. Many of them could have been saved if they had worn seat belts.

Strict safety standards required

Kapila said that according to 2021 data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, only 14 people lost their lives in bus accidents in America. Similarly, China reported 215 deaths in 2022. He said that both developing and developed countries have achieved remarkable results by adopting strict safety standards for public transport such as buses.

Major accident in Kasganj

KK Kapila said that 22 people are feared dead in the tractor trolley accident in Kasganj, UP. These people were going to take bath in the Ganga, but the tractor trolley overturned on the way. While trying to save an unknown vehicle, this tractor trolley filled with tourists fell into the pond. According to officials, 7 children and 8 women have died in this accident. Many are seriously injured.
