Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the G-20 meeting on Saturday. During this period, the African Union became a permanent member of G-20 under the chairmanship of India. While the Prime Minister was addressing the members and leaders of the guest countries, the entire nation’s attention was drawn to the wooden nameplate placed on his table. What was special this time was that ‘Bharat’ was written on the nameplate instead of the name ‘India’ which is commonly used in the world.
In fact, the invitation letter has been sent by the President on behalf of ‘The President of India’ to the dinner to be organized at Bharat Mandapam during the G-20 program on 9 September. Now politics has started regarding the word ‘India’ printed on this invitation card. Political parties say that the Bharatiya Janata Party government is also attacking the name of the country.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that when Article 1 of the Constitution states that India, which was India, is a union of states, then why is the word India being removed from it. However, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor says that when both India and India are mentioned in the Constitution, then there should be no constitutional objection in it. But regarding this name, not only Congress but also the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party are giving tweets and statements in support of India.
