Congress MP Shashi Tharoor praised Amitabh Kant for unanimously accepting the manifesto at the G-20 summit. Said that India has achieved a major victory after the G-20 summit unanimously adopted the declaration on Russia-Ukraine war, overcoming major differences. This is a matter of pride for the country.
The success came from a complicated conversation the night before.
It is worth noting that the tough negotiations the night before gave India the success for which PM Modi’s team had been working day and night since getting the G-20 chairmanship. In fact, till Friday evening, the matter of consensus on the Delhi Declaration regarding Ukraine issue was stuck. There was also a danger looming whether a united statement would be issued from the summit, but after this the Indian team again started a round of talks with representatives of China, Russia and western countries. In this, India got full support from Brazil, South Africa and Indonesia. Due to these efforts, India was successful in getting China to agree to the article prepared on Ukraine issue. Later, European countries also agreed with what was written in this paragraph.
It was not easy to reach a consensus on the manifesto.
G-20’s Indian Sherpa Amitabh Kant also confirmed in a news channel that Brazil, South Africa and Indonesia fully cooperated in building the consensus. He had said that the New Delhi Declaration was discussed with the member countries for 200 hours. Long separate talks were held with Russia and China, after which the final draft was agreed upon on Friday night.
