India will host the G-20 summit in the capital Delhi next month. Leaders of G20 countries will participate in this conference. Defense sources have given information in this regard. He informed that the Air Force will protect the Delhi airspace to provide security for the meeting. The Indian Air Force is deploying air defense missiles as well as counter-drone systems in the national capital to guard against any possible aerial threat in coordination with various security agencies. Also, Airborne Warning and Control Systems are being deployed to keep an eye on any movement in the northern parts of the country. They will continuously keep an eye on the sky while being in the air. Along with this, indigenous surveillance aircraft ‘Netra’ will also conduct regular surveillance in the area.
MRSAM missile being deployed
The medium-range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) is among the air defense missile systems deployed by the Air Force to protect the Delhi airspace. It can hit the target from a distance of 70-80 km.
These airports were kept in alert mode
Defense sources also informed that several airports around the National Capital Region, including areas under the responsibility of the Western Air Command and the South Western Air Command, will remain on alert mode to deal with any possible threat. The airports that have been put on alert mode for the summit include the Hindon airport near Delhi and several other airports including Ambala, Sirsa, Bhatinda and Adampur.
