Farmers appeal to Supreme Court, direct Center to allow peaceful demonstration in Delhi – Bollywood Keeda

New Delhi, A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Central Government to allow farmers to protest peacefully in the national capital Delhi.

In the PIL filed by Agnostos Theos, Managing Director of Sikh Chamber of Commerce, a request has been made to direct the Central Government to remove the barricades made from the roads to stop the agitating farmers from entering Delhi.

He has requested to direct the Central Government to activate the forcibly closed social media accounts of the agitating farmers.

The petition claims that stopping farmers from entering the national capital without any justified reason is a violation of their rights (enshrined in Article 19 (1) (d) of the Constitution) to travel freely across the country. Apart from the Central Government, the petitioner has made the governments of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Delhi and the National Human Rights Commission as parties.
