Manoj Yadav, Korba. A woman living in Balko area of the district was beaten severely by a moneylender and her family. The woman suffered serious injuries in the incident and her head was also fractured. In this case, the statement of the woman has been recorded on the basis of the memo by the District Hospital Outpost Police.
According to the information, the name of the victim woman, resident of Balko police station area, is Anjan Singh, who had taken money on interest from a person named Shrikant Manjhi, who lives near his house. The woman used to pay the interest amount regularly every month but there was a dispute between the two regarding some issue. After which the moneylender’s family entered his house and carried out the incident of assault. Police has started investigation on the complaint of the matter.
The victim woman told that she had taken money of Rs 25 thousand from Shrikant at about 20 percent interest. After which she had been paying interest every month. Even after she had paid the entire amount including interest, he was still asking for money. When the woman did not give the money, Srikant came with his family members and beat her with sticks. During this time, the woman alone at home started screaming. Hearing her voice, the son came and kept trying to save her. But the accused people did not agree and kept beating him. Meanwhile, the people of the nearby neighborhood kept watching as no one dared to save the woman. The woman had injuries on her head and was drenched in blood. After which the accused ran away from the spot.
The victim has also alleged that after this incident she went to Balco police station but there was no hearing there. He was asked to bring evidence of the assault. After this incident, the family members somehow admitted the injured woman to the District Medical College, where her treatment is going on.
District Hospital outpost in-charge Dawood Khjur said that on the basis of the memo received from the District Medical College, the statement of the victim has been recorded and the child will be sent to the police station for further investigation.
