India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that this time there is a possibility of heat wave for 10 to 20 days between April and June, whereas normally the number of heat wave days in these three months is 4 to 8.

IMD released the summer forecast report on Monday. The department said, there is a possibility of maximum heat in the central and western states of the country during April to June. This may increase the number of heat wave days. Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the heat wave will start increasing after the first phase of voting.

In view of the elections, the National Disaster Management Authority has already issued advisory for the people engaged in elections. So far, more than 200 districts have prepared heat action plans.
