What is the mythology behind long vermilion? (Chhath Puja 2023)

According to mythology, when Lord Hanuman came to know that Sita was happy when Shri Ram applied vermillion to Sita, he painted his entire body with orange vermillion. Similarly, by coloring themselves with vermilion, they wanted to show their dedication towards Shri Ram in the meeting. The use of this orange vermilion at the time of donating vermilion shows the dedication of husband and wife towards each other.

1- There is a religious belief that on this day, if a woman applies long vermillion from nose to head, then all her wishes are fulfilled and the age of her husband increases. On this day, along with the worship of Sun God, women ensure the happiness of their husbands and children. Wishing for peace and long life, she completes her fast by offering Arghya. Women use this vermillion for themselves, but also apply it to please the Gods and Goddesses.
