Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. Police constable Pankaj Shukla, who cheated on the pretext of getting a job, has been arrested by the Civil Line Police. The accused constable had cheated 21 unemployed youth of Rs 1 crore 13 lakh. Citing his reach, he used to prey on youth in the name of providing them government jobs. The accused was continuously absconding since the report was filed. Civil Line Police is taking action against the accused under Section 420, 120B.
The accused constable Pankaj Shukla, who lived in the police line, was posted in the IG office. During this time, he cheated 21 people of Rs 1 crore 13 lakh by pretending to get the job of constable from DGP quota. Fake certificates were also distributed to some people. He kept procrastinating by assuring the victims of returning the money. After this, when the money was not returned, the victims lodged a report in the Civil Line police station on 10 August 2023. The police had registered the crime and were searching for the accused constable. Police arrested the accused on Friday and further action is being taken.
