Durg. The jail superintendent has suspended two jail guards in the case of a prisoner absconding from the district hospital. The prisoner, who was in jail for murder and robbery, was admitted to the hospital for treatment. During this period, Jail Superintendent RR Rai has suspended jail guards Raju Verma and Geeta Prasad Khunte for being negligent in the safety of prisoners.
Anupam alias Abhishek Jha of Baikunthpur district Vaishali, Bihar, was in jail in a murder case. The accused had shot dead a businessman at Samriddhi Jewelers in Patan and escaped after looting gold and silver jewellery. He was sent to jail in 2022 under sections 302, 394,397, 449,35, and 25, 27 of the Arms Act.
On November 14, the prisoner was brought to the district hospital, where the prisoner went to the toilet. During this time, two other masked men came, beat up the guards and took away the mobile phone with them. Jail Superintendent and Kotwali police station are busy investigating the case.
