Center should make policy on online sale of medicines: Court – Bollywood Keeda

New Delhi. Delhi High Court has directed the Central Government to formulate a policy in eight weeks regarding online sale of medicines. The court said that time was being given for the last five years. Now this is the last chance.

The court was hearing petitions related to online medicine sales, including the PIL filed by Dr. Zaheer Ahmed in 2018. The petition claimed that sale of medicines through e-pharmacy increases the risk of self-medication and sale of medicines without prescription.

The bench said that if the policy is not prepared within the given time, then the Joint Secretary should appear in person on the next date of hearing. The next hearing will be on March 4, 2024.
