New Delhi , With the intention of promoting night life, economic activity and employment in Delhi, the Delhi government has allowed 83 shops and business establishments to open 24 hours.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved the proposals received from the Labor Department. This includes business shops, commercial, restaurants and retail trade category establishments. The approval has been given under the provisions and rules given in the Delhi Shop Establishment Act 1954. The proposal was sent to LG for final approval. 122 people willing to operate shops 24 hours had applied online to the Labor Department under the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act 1954.
After examining these applications and documents by the Labor Department, it was found that only 83 applications fulfilled the terms and conditions. The department rejected 29 applications and approved the remaining ones. Shop owners will have to follow the terms and conditions, otherwise action will be taken against them. Let us tell you that till now 635 establishments and shops have been allowed to open 24 hours in Delhi.
According to the rules, women employees will not be allowed to work in any establishment during 9 pm to 7 am in summer and 8 pm to 8 am in winter season. Shops will have to open and close within the stipulated time. If this is violated the shop may be closed. If customers are waiting, there will be 15 minutes extra time to open the shop.
In the last few years, a total of 635 shops and business establishments have been allowed to operate 24 hours. Last August, the CM had given permission to 29 shops and business establishments, after which their number increased to 552. Now after getting permission for 83 more shops, their number has increased to 635.
There are many categories of shops among the shops which have been allowed to operate 24 hours by the Delhi Government. For example, one shop each in the shop category will open in Dwarka, Mata Sundari, Netaji Subhash Place, Karol Bagh, Sarita Vihar, Kamla Nagar, Dwarka, Select City, Greater Kailash One. Similarly, one restaurant shop each at Defense Colony and IGI Airport will be open 24 hours.
Rajouri Garden, Kakraula, Laxmi Nagar Metro Station, Roshanara Sabzi Mandi, Pitampura, Chandrawali, Okhla Industrial Area and Phase II, Sector III Rohini, Udyog Nagar, Dheerpur, Yamuna Bank, Palam Dabri, Mangolpuri Industrial Area, Narayana, Bapraula, Ghazipur, Krishna Nagar, Nangli, Bamnoli, Hauz Khas, Dashratpuri Metro Station, Pushta Kartar Nagar, Dwarka, Subhash Nagar, Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Ghitorni Metro Station, IGI Airport, Matiala, Karala, Narela, Uttam Nagar, Burari, Gautam Nagar, Rohini. Permission has been given to open commercial shops at Sector 19, Welcome Metro Station.
