Minister Anurag Thakur has posted pictures on social media while giving the award to Madhuri Dixit. He also wrote, “An icon of every era, Madhuri Dixit has graced our screens with her unique talent for four incredible decades.”

Madhuri Dixit has always surprised the audience with her different characters in Indian films. The ‘Special Recognition for Contribution to Indian Cinema’ award is a testament to Madhuri Dixit’s extraordinary achievements and her lasting impact on Indian cinema.

Started film career with Abodh

Madhuri Dixit, the lead actress of Hindi films in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, received six Filmfare Awards and was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress a record 14 times. Madhuri Dixit started her film career with ‘Abodh’ (1984) and got recognition with Tezaab (1988). In 2014, she was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in India. According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting report, British film ‘Catching Dust’ has been selected as the opening film and ‘The Featherweight’ as the closing film for the 54th IFFI.

The 54th International Film Festival of India-IFFI has started in Goa from 20th November. The inaugural ceremony was held at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Bambolim. The International Indian Film Festival will run from 20 to 28 November.
